Melbourne IT is a world leader in domain name registrations and related online business solutions. Established in 1996, and listed on the ASX in 1999, the company has experienced rapid growth through the delivery of high value online solutions and outstanding customer service.

Melbourne IT's mission is to deliver success to its worldwide customer base by maximising the value of domain names, developing online internet solutions and achieving growth through expanding and enhancing its distribution channels.
Empowering Growth
Melbourne IT began registering .com.au domain names in 1996 and in April 1999 was accredited by ICANN to provide registrar services in the .com, .net and .org domain spaces. In 2006, Melbourne IT manages more than 4 million domain names and is a truly global domain name registrar which supplies more than 40 different domain name types to customers across the globe.
In addition to its strong organic growth, Melbourne IT has also expanded its business through strategic acquisitions. In 2003, it purchased New Zealand-based domain name registrar, Domainz, which offers corporate domain management, reseller and direct domain services into the fast growing New Zealand market.
In April 2004, Melbourne IT acquired Cogent IPC, a European-based online brand protection company which specialises in providing services to high profile internet based brands such as those in the airline, automotive, clothing, banking & finance, electrical, IT, furniture and food and beverage industries.
In September 2006, Melbourne IT cemented its position in the online services market with the acquisition of WebCentral Group, incorporating Australia's largest web and application hosting company, WebCentral. This acquisition has given Melbourne IT a significant sales capability within the developing Software as a Service (SaaS) market which provides customers with access to software via the Internet as an alternative to purchasing, installing and maintaining software on local computers.
In January 2007, Melbourne IT enhanced its UK market presence with the acquisition of IDR Management Services, a pioneer in the UK corporate domain management space with an impressive client base of FTSE 100 companies and trademark attorney firms.

The company is committed to improving its competitive advantage and profitability through expanding its global internet brand management business, enabling customers to optimise their business performance through online technology services and evaluating ongoing merger and acquisition opportunities.
KEY DIVISIONS
Melbourne IT has five operating divisions: Corporate Brand Services: Reseller; Business & Consumer; Corporate & Government; and FTR.
Corporate Brand Services Division
The internet has become an integral part of modern business. To succeed, companies are maximising their use of new technologies to provide customers with the products and services they demand. As a result of the increasing take up of online services, Corporate Brand Services (CBS) is one of Melbourne IT's fastest growing divisions. Its core business is online brand protection including the management of domain name portfolios for large corporate clients aimed at protecting and maximising the value of brands online - an ever-increasing challenge for many companies. CBS utilises a specialist team to deliver a comprehensive and strategic management solution for corporate domain name portfolios.
Reseller Division
Melbourne IT supplies a technical and support solution for domain name registration and other online business services to a global network of reseller clients. Resellers are given access to Melbourne IT's state of the art domain name registration and maintenance system. Through the 2006 acquisition of WebCentral Group, Melbourne IT now also manages a 2,000-strong partner reseller channel for its hosting and Software as a Service (SaaS) products and provides wholesale hosting and management services to the majority of Australia's telcommunications companies.
Business & Consumer Division
The Business & Consumer division is focused on developing a suite of high value, secure and reliable integrated online solutions for the fast-growing SME sector in Australia and New Zealand. With more than 300,000 customer accounts, Melbourne IT has an established reputation as a trusted provider of online services delivered through its global network of offices and team of professionals, one third of whom are based outside Australia. The acquisition of WebCentral in 2006 has enhanced Melbourne IT's SME product set to include an enviable range of Software as a Service (SaaS) products.

Corporate & Government Division
Melbourne IT's Corporate & Government division provides high value managed hosting solutions to large clients with specialised requirements, including high security, high performance, disaster recovery and high availability solutions. Melbourne IT operates round the clock telecommunications-grade data centre facilities to support these corporate and government clients, and employs expert technical staff.
With the managed hosting market in Australia predicted to grow by more than 20% CAGR to 2010, Melbourne IT is committed to developing its range of managed services to enhance the value it provides these large clients.
FTR Division
FTR is a leading global provider of rich content management systems for courtrooms, hearing rooms, public meeting venues and law enforcement. With offices in Perth, Australia and Phoenix, USA, FTR trades under the 'For the Record' brand and has more than 15,000 installations of its patented recording system in venues in 30 countries, including The Old Bailey, The World Court the Hague and the High Court of Australia.
FTR became a division of Melbourne IT in September 2006, with the acquisition of WebCentral Group.
KEY BRANDS
The following companies are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Melbourne IT:
Melbourne IT Corporate Brand Services is the dynamic global brand representing the former Cogent IPC and Melbourne IT Corporate Domain Management divisions. The new brand was launched in September 2005 and builds on the service credentials and expertise of these two former entities that have delivered domain name management, online brand infringement services and web traffic services to corporate and government organisations since 1996.
Domainz is New Zealand's largest and most experienced domain name registrar, which helps New Zealand businesses to make maximum use of the internet to promote their business and grow sales. Melbourne IT acquired Domainz in 2003.

In addition to its own direct customer base, WebCentral provides wholesale web hosting and email services to the majority of Australia's Tier 1 telecommunications companies. Established in 1997, WebCentral was acquired by Melbourne IT Limited in September 2006.
